Goals

OBJECTIVE A:  Have an adequate supply of quality ground and surface water for domestic, livestock and recreational uses.

Strategy A 1 – Support alternative water supplies for long-term future needs.

Strategy A 2 – Sample and test private water wells to identify pollutants and needed water quality improvements.

Strategy A 3 – Identify stream banks and shoreline erosion areas, and support the treatment of 100 miles of perennial streams that traverse the project area.

Strategy A 4 – Establish an education program to improve water quality.
 

OBJECTIVE B:  Support a solid waste management system that will comply with federal, state, and tribal regulations.

Strategy B 1 – Support solid waste management system to adequately dispose of and recycle solid waste.
 

OBJECTIVE C: Support land management for optimum production of fish and wildlife populations.

Strategy C 1 - Enhance surface water by seeking funding for ponds that will benefit wildlife habitat and livestock water supply.

Strategy C 2 - Support the improvement of fishing.
 

OBJECTIVE D: Encourage diversity to the economy.

Strategy D 1 - Attract three (3) manufacturing industries.

Strategy D 2 - Support tourism.

Strategy D 3 - Develop strategies to encourage the agricultural producers to add value to their products before marketing.

Strategy D 4 - Help entrepreneurial and small business activity concepts in the public school systems.

Strategy D 5 - Assist communities with improvements/beautification projects.

Strategy D 6 - Support the development and improvement of quality and quantity of rural housing.


OBJECTIVE E: Increase net income of area ranchers through lower production costs, higher livestock yields, and improved rangeland conditions.

Strategy E 1 - Promote and support an education program to improve rangeland conditions.


OBJECTIVE F: To explore alternative sources of energy for the purpose of conserving non-renewable natural resources.

Strategy F 1 - Conduct a series of workshops in each county to instruct participants on the development of alternative energy sources.


OBJECTIVE G: Provide training for staff.

Strategy G 1 - Provide training for Executive Director.
