A: ASSIST
THE PUBLIC TO UNDERSTAND THE BENEFITS OF REDUCING SOIL EROSION AND
SEDIMENTATION.

1: Inform the public about the effect of soil erosion and sedimentation on
landscapes and water quality.

ASSIST THE PUBLIC TO IMPROVE WATER QUALITY, WATER
USE AND WATER CONSERVATION.

1: Provide coordination, grant search and grant proposal assistance.

2: Provide information to the public about the results
of water quality assessments in the Black Hills Area.

3: Promote activities and programs that result in
better management of the areas water resources.

C: ASSIST COMMUNITIES WITH COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES.

1: Complete 6 ongoing community action proposals by
2007.

2: Complete the 2 ongoing community action proposals
with partnering RC&D Associations by 2006.

3: Develop 1 new action proposal to assist 1
community to complete a community needs assessment by 2006.

4: Provide rural development information to 5
communities in 2005.

communities by 2005.

D: ASSIST THE PUBLIC TO IMPLEMENT LAND MANAGEMENT ACTIONS THAT SUPPORT
SUSTAINABLE AND DIVERSE COMMUNITIES.

1: Provide 37 at risk communities with wildland fire
mitigation information by 2005.

2: Provide Firewise Communities information to 37 at
risk communities by 2005.
Objective
3: Provide opportunities for the public and
communities to enhance the area through forest management education and
community tree planting activities by 2009.

4: Distribute information to 6 counties about weeds
by 2009.

5: Provide administrative assistance to the
Deerfield/Hill City Weed Management area in 2004 and 2005.
Objective 6: Maintain the Black Hills Fire
Recovery Assistance Center through 2009.

E: TO BY DYNAMIC AND VISIBLE PUBLIC SUPPORTED ORGANIZATION FOR THE AREA.
Objective
1: Implement the monthly, annual and multi-year
activities identified in the five year Black Hills RC&D Association Area Plan
and Black Hills RC&D Association Annual Plans of Work from 2005 to 2009.
Objective
2: Develop 10 new action proposals in response to
changing issues and needs in the area by 2009.
Objective
3: Members actively participate in 12 Black Hills
RC&D Association meetings annually.
Objective
4: Members develop the Black Hills RC&D Association
Annual Plan of Work in August and September of each fiscal year.
Objective
5: Provide non-discriminatory services to the public.
Objective 6: The Black Hills RC&D
Association, Future Needs Committee will identify 2 capacity building
strategies for the Association by 2006.
